Hi Bilal,

As Mike states in the video around 1:10, this is the subjunctive. The subjunctive is used for a future tense uncertainty when the speech becomes reported speech.

I expect that X will happen —>
He said that he expected that X would happen

Hi Shray :)

Expectations of: We have "expectations of" someone or something. If the teacher has high expectations of his students, for example, the teacher believes that his students can do well. On the other hand, if the coach has low expectations of his team, she may not believe that her team can win.

Expectations that: We have "expectations that" something will occur or someone will do something. "Expectations that" is followed by an action. When we expect or think something will happen, we have expectations that it will occur.

Expectations from: This is not a commonly used phrase, but it could be used to describe the cause or source of our expectations. The classroom expectations from the students, for instance, would describe what the students expect of the classroom. On the other hand, if a runner had high expectations from her experience in other races, she expects a good outcome based on her previous races (perhaps she won them all).

I hope this helps to distinguish between these three uses of "expectations"!
