DINO JOY

Hi..
I have a doubt in the choice D ,which is the right answer. The word "for" is a preposition, so is it correct to use the construction "preposition+ Noun+ Verb" . We should introduce a subordinating conjunction or participle to hold an action. Can you please clarify..

Hi Dino! As Mike explains in the video, in (D), the word "for" means "because":

The Olympic Games helped to keep peace among the pugnacious states of the Greek world, BECAUSE a sacred truce was proclaimed during the month of the festival.
