I agree with all said before- the only thing which confused me is this part in E : "to have it quickly processed into juice concentrate before warmer weather returns and rots the fruit".
In my opinion (I am not a native) this is illogical, due to the fact that not the weather rots the fruits, but the chemicals and the caused chemical reaction does. To me E therefore appeared as the wrong choice. E sounds intentional on part of weather.
Hi Meera! Good question. The warm weather is what causes the chemical reaction, etc. to cause the fruit. No warm weather, no chemical reaction. That doesn't mean that the warm weather has volition; just that it is the cause.
Clearly, the GMAT finds this construction acceptable :)
