can we conceived of the part "carefully coordinated..." as a verb, not as a participle modifier? therefore, we have the first verb - coordinated and hence the second one - capitalized does make sense.

Hey Toan,

I think you're referring to (E), correct?

Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinated them with her narratives and capitalized on her keen observation and love of the natural world.

So, if we treat "carefully coordinated" as a verb phrase here, we run into another problem. What does "them" refer to? It doesn't refer to "book illustrations" because it's the subject of a prepositional phrase "in her book illustrations." So "them" would need to refer to something else that is in her book illustrations.

Does that make sense? "Carefully coordinated" in (E) is not properly modifying "book illustrations" as it should.

Exactly,
in E: Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinated them with her narratives and...
I thought that "they" could refer back to "book illustrations". this reference is Not only ungrammatical but also very awkward: in her illustrations, she coordinate illustrations with X :(
I understand it much better now. Thank you, Adam!
