k c

a^2+2a=24, b^2+2b =24
therefore a^2+2a=b^2+2b rearranging the equation
a^2-b^2 =2b-2a
(a+b)(a-b)=-2(a-b) Cancelling on both sides(a not equal to b)
a+b=-2
