A certain fruit stand sold apples for \$0.70 each and bananas for \$0.50 each. If a customer purchased both apples and bananas from the stand for a total of \$6.30, what number of apples and bananas did the customer purchase?

Pls check my method and give your views:
First I removed the decimals for a simpler equation:
7A+5B=63
I start my putting B=0 so A takes 9. Hence one option is 9+0
Since we deal with a decreasing line (plus sign in the equation), B will increase by the coeff. of A i.e. 7 while A will decrease by coeff. of B. So next number to assume is 7. This gives A=4. So A+B=7+4=11 and answer is B

Hi Parijat! Your method effectively analyzes the question to arrive at the correct answer. Firstly, removing the decimals is a great way to simplify the analysis of this question. Great job :) Then, it's useful to start at B=0, A =9, although this is not a possible choice, since the question clearly states that both apples and bananas were purchased (which means that neither value can equal 0). As you mentioned, from there, we would have B = 7, A = 4, which ends up being the correct answer. Nice work with this question :D
