Statement 1: can be re-written as P = 1.25(D) or P = 5/4(D). We want to isolate D, so multiply both sides by 4/5. The resulting equation is 4/5(P) = D. This signifies that the discounted price is 80% of the original price, so the original price must have been discounted by 20%. SUFFICIENT.

Statement 2: D = P - 60. Since we have no ratio info regarding the original price relative to the discounted price, we are unable to solve. NOT SUFFICIENT.
