How did Magoosh help you?
Two of Magoosh's most helpful points were the idiom booklet in the Resources tab and the thorough explanations that followed every question while I practiced. The idioms were extremely useful in identifying sentence errors, and many of the harder quant questions that showed up on the exam were identical to some of the ones I had practiced on Hard and Very Hard mode. Overall though, this was my first time taking the GMAT, and I was pretty satisfied with my level of preparation. Other than Magoosh, which I paid for because I liked the price tag, I studied by going through every other free resource available online. |

The ability to segment questions by difficulty and topic really helped me cut down on practicing irrelevant questions. I loved the video explanations for each of the questions, which in my case totally replaced the need to have a tutor or attend in-person classes. Great stuff! :) |

Magoosh was awesome! * The estimated score was surprisingly right on. * Although I hadn't taken an official test my first practice test scores were in the mid 500s and I ended up getting a 690. * I loved being able to filter the questions based on difficulty in the "Customize your practice" feature. Towards the final few weeks I pretty much only did the Hard/Very Hard level questions making the easy/medium ones on the test feel like a breeze. * The videos are so helpful, there are a few that I probably watched a dozen times until the methodology was finally stuck in my head. I am glad that Magoosh has specific videos for each questions instead of simply explaining the general strategy to use. * For $99 this is a serious no-brainer |

How did Magoosh help you?
Three ways: 1. You have awesome lesson videos. They scoop the most basic concepts, which, if you want, you can skip. But they also go over more difficult concepts and give practise problems as if we were in class ourselves. Also, the techniques used to solve the problems use the methods mentioned earlier, reinforcing the use of time-saving methods to achieve higher scores. 2. The practise questions adapt. If I were to use simply use my books, I would get a medley of problems of multiple levels. It turns out my math was mostly adequate for the "hard" level among the four categories. If I had taken the harder questions, the concepts and methods used to find the answers might have daunted me (dignity and pride aside); and if I had taken easier questions, I would have been wasting my time as I might have already thoroughly understood the concepts and optimal methods to solving those problems. 3. There's a video explanation for every answer! As a friend of mine put it, it's almost better than a classroom setting. If I were in a classroom and didn't understand something the instructor covered, unless I bothered the instructor after class, I might not learn the subject matter adequately. Meanwhile, if I understood something thoroughly while the rest of the class did not, I might have to sit through a period of empty learning as the rest of the class were taught something I already understood. I only had two weeks to study for the exam, and I got a 700. If I had a whole month (or imagine, three whole months!), imagine the score I could have gotten! For the meantime, I wanted to substantiate applications for Masters in Accountancy programs which want an average GMAT score of 630. I succeeded in making deadlines with an above-adequate score. I may yet study more and take the exam again to get a Top 10 MBA average program score, but for now, I'm relaxing with some drinks! Ask me tomorrow what my plans are! Thanks! |

I had decided to use Magoosh as part of the 3-month self-study plan, which I ended up following loosely. Magoosh came in handy essentially for the Quant-related videos and for overall practice. I gather lots of disadvantages regarding the probability of achieving my target score of 700 in the GMAT: 1) I am quite old for the GMAT (31) 2) I work for over 10 hours daily (that was the case during my prep as well) 3) I have no time for prep schools and prep seminars 4) I only had two weeks for preperation What I did? I relied absolutely in Magoosh material. I viewed all of the videos (in the fast forward since I was running out of time), tried to keep personal notes (very helpful for my last day's revision). I did all of Magoosh's excercises in batches of practice tests (Q37,V41) under real timing conditions (75min) and then read all the solutions (even those I found correct). And in the last 4 days (two of them were the only days off work) I kept re-watching videos and retrying questions either flagged or wrong. The result? I achieved my target score of 700 on my first try. I am sure that Magoosh has just the information you need to achieve even a higher score and nothing more. I regard it as an extremely efficient prep tool. Thank you! |
