The front of a 6-foot-by-8-foot rectangular door has brass rectangular trim, as indicated by the shading in the figure above. If the trim is uniformly 1 foot wide, what fraction of the door’s front surface is covered by the trim? 13/48, 5/12, 1/2, 7/12, 5/8

Hi Rafaqat,
The trim is 1 food wide. So the three sections in the middle are each 1 foot wide/tall * (6 - 2) feet long.
1 * 4 = 4
